Two-time Emmy® award winner Seth Shapiro is a leading advisor, author and speaker in digital media, distribution and business strategy. His work includes projects in TV, games, online, mobile and music, with Disney, Comcast, McCann, Intel, Time Warner, Universal, Showtime, Verizon, Sun Microsystems, Goldman Sachs, Tim Kring, Dutch Media Hub, Swedish Public Broadcasting, Betfair UK and a range of early-stage companies.
Seth is Principal of advisory firm New Amsterdam Media, Adjunct Professor at the USC School of Cinematic Arts and Research Fellow at the Annenberg Innovation Lab. He was previously co-founder of ARC (a VOD service in 15 million Comcast homes), and of Media Valuation Partners.
As Head of Production at DIRECTV’s Advanced Products and Services group, Seth oversaw the launch of over 20 services, including NFL Sunday Ticket Digital, DIRECTV Mix Channels, Ulimate TV from Microsoft and TiVo from DIRECTV, the world’s first major DVR platform. Prior to this, he produced games for franchises including Beauty and The Beast, 101 Dalmatians, Aladdin and Tarzan.
Seth is Chair of Events at the Television Academy’s Interactive Media Peer Group, a member of the Producer’s Guild New Media Council, and sits on the advisory boards of the OVP Venture Partners Technology Group, the IP Media Expo and PICNIC Festival Amsterdam. He is Magna cum Laude graduate of New York University and was Adelbert Alumni Scholar at Case Western Reserve University.
